About Us

Meet Ferghus...

Ferg's passion for life and love for his fellow pack members was the motivation behind starting Ferghus & Company.  Our household has always loved dogs.  Our family life and day to day activities are centered around them.

in 2007, Virgil, our Cocker Spaniel became mysteriously ill and a diagnosis seemed elusive.   At this point I began to study canine nutrition in hopes of easing his suffering through holistic methods.  Our household bustled on Sunday afternoons with various pots simmering on the stove in preparation for the upcoming week's meals.  The dogs loved this Sunday ritual which continues to this day.  Sadly, Virgil lost his battle with what appeared to be a nasal tumour in 2008.  It was heartbreaking.

We decided to become foster parents working with 2 breed specific and 1 all breed dog rescue.  This decision brought on new challenges.  Some dogs arrived in conditions that were unbelievable.  For others the emotional baggage of being abandoned, abused or passed from home to home was all encompassing, causing them to withdraw and hide for days, even weeks before realizing they were now safe, and loved. Yet throughout it all, Sundays were days spent in the kitchen.  Eventually all our dogs, fosters included ended up flaked out somewhere on the kitchen floor enjoying the smells and sounds of next week's dinners on the make.

Our past year in foster has kept us busy and on our toes.  A stronger focus was placed on training methods and understanding dogs and how they interact with each other and us as people.  It also confirmed that a life and career with a strong foundation in the care and nurturing of dogs and their relationships with their owners was the ideal path for me to choose.

So here we are.  Finally , after working with so many dogs, their new families and dogs with existing families we have our website, our wonderful clientele and the adoptive families of many of our fosters.  To you, I say thank you for your support, the love you have for your dogs and the role you play in their lives.

See you at the dog park!
